Reno Diagnostic Centers' first with low dose CT Scanning in Nevada.

January 9th, 2011

New Software Implementation to Reduce Radiation Exposure by up to 40%.

(Reno, Nev.) - Reno Diagnostic Centers (RDC) is the exclusive provider of the lowest dose CT (Computed Tomography/CAT) scanning available in the state of Nevada. ASIR (Adaptive Statistical Iterative Reconstruction) has been installed on RDC’s 64-slice CT scanner to provide the same, superior image quality at up to 40% less radiation than the already low dose protocol examinations.

CT scans provide clinicians with a great deal of diagnostic information. With 60 million studies being performed annually in the United States, lowering the radiation dose has long been desirable. ASIR software generates images using less radiation than traditional scan methods.  While dose reduction is desirable for all patients, it is especially beneficial for young patients and patients who require multiple follow-up or multiphase studies.  It is also of particular benefit to obese patients.

“RDC consistently brings the latest in imaging technology to the residents of Nevada. With the recent implementation of ASIR, the first of its kind in the state of Nevada, patients with concerns about radiation exposure can be confident they are receiving less radiation, without any compromise on diagnostic image quality,” said Ross Golding, Medical Director for RDC.

For the past 25 years, Reno Diagnostic Centers has provided patients and referring physicians with accurate, efficient and quality healthcare. RDC offers residents of northern Nevada a wide array of medical diagnostic imaging services such as MRI, CT, Digital Mammography with Computer Aided Diagnosis (CAD), PET Scans and X-Ray and Digital Fluoroscopy.  RDC prides itself on being the first to offer numerous medical imaging services to patients in northern Nevada including the first high-field MRI Scanner in the state of Nevada, the first open MRI Scanner, the first dedicated PET Imaging System, the first Digital Mammography System with CAD and Northern Nevada’s first and only 3T MRI Scanner.
